Voltage, Phase, and Other Options |
Voltage
Because Solar Products is a custom manufacturer of furnaces/muffles, we can provide an electrical design for all commercially or industrially supplied voltages, including 120, 208, 220, 240, 277, 380, 415, 460, and 575. In some cases, our furnaces/muffles are provided as dual voltage in order to help reduce stocking requirements. Dual voltage furnaces accept a derivative of two voltages. (usually 120/240 or 240/480.
Phase
Solar Products can manufacture our furnaces/muffles for single, three, or, in some instances, dual phase.
Frequency
The two most common frequencies used by our furnaces/muffles are 50 and 60 hertz. Because fixed resistance heaters work with either frequency with no change in design, frequency is not a significant issue.
Fixed Resistance
Furnace/muffle heating elements are all fixed resistance. This means that the wattage attained is a direct result of the voltage applied. (W= V2/R). In other words, if the voltage varies the wattage will vary unless the furnace is properly controlled. Proper control makes use of a temperature controller or a power controller that can maintain a constant power output. Solar Products' furnaces are designed for hot resistance to ensure acceptable power output.
Zoning
The furnace/muffle can be broken down into zones through its length or circumference. Some applications require different heating levels as a part moves through the process, and zoning through the length can help to accomplish that goal. For other processes that require more heat through a 120° arc and less heat through the remaining 240° arc, zoning through the circumference can produce this type of temperature control.
